To ride safely, here are a few rules to follow:
When using àVélo, wearing a helmet is not just a safety recommendation — it is a legal requirement. According to article 492.2 of the Highway Safety Code, it is prohibited to use an electric‑assist bicycle without wearing a helmet. Whether you’re using àVélo or your own bike, the rules are the same. It is always best to use the cycling network when available. If there is no bike infrastructure, ride on the roadway in the same direction as cars, staying to the right. It is strictly forbidden to ride on sidewalks or pedestrian areas with a bicycle.
