Snow or ice may cover the pavement. Please exercise caution and adjust your riding accordingly. We remind you that the bikes are not designed for winter conditions (tires are not studded), and wearing a helmet is mandatory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t <\/a><\/p>\n Since \u00e0V\u00e9lo launched five years ago, this is the first time the season is being extended beyond October 31st. This year’s extension is a pilot project, and we have chosen to focus our efforts in areas with the highest ridership and access to a four-season cycling network-particularly those connected to the Vivacit\u00e9 corridors<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhy is the season only being extended by two weeks?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t <\/p>\n We have to consider that bike batteries do not charge below zero degrees Celsius, even at electrified stations. To avoid logistical challenges, we are limiting the season extension to the first two weeks of November, when average daytime temperatures typically remain above the freezing point. Additionally, our current equipment is not suited for winter conditions. This extension will serve as a test period, as our analysis shows that the risk of snowfall during the first half of November remains very low based on data from recent years.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhy will the network include only 60 stations instead of the usual 225?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t As announced in the spring press release<\/a>, the extended service is being deployed in neighborhoods with the highest ridership and access to a four-season cycling network, particularly those connected to the Vivacit\u00e9 corridors<\/a>. The extended service will consist primarily of electrified stations<\/p>\n <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhy did you choose to keep mostly electrified stations open? <\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t <\/p>\n Since 100% of the bike fleet is electric-assist, it’s essential that the extended network be made up almost entirely of electrified stations to ensure a high-quality experience for our users.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Colder temperatures and shorter daylight hours mean that solar-powered stations, which rely on battery storage, won’t charge sufficiently to operate 24\/7. That’s why we’ve chosen to open primarily electrified stations, with only a few solar stations remaining in service-specifically in areas where demand justifies the more frequent technician interventions they require. This approach ensures a more consistent and reliable network. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhich stations will be available during the extended season?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t <\/p>\n Please refer to the stations map<\/a>. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tAre the bikes equipped with studded tires and non-slip pedals?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t <\/p>\n No, the bikes will not be equipped with studded tires or non-slip pedals. These modifications would have been very costly for just two additional weeks of service in April and November. For this reason, it’s important to adjust your riding based on weather conditions. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat happens if there’s snow or ice?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t <\/p>\n Our team will closely monitor weather conditions. If unfavorable weather poses a safety risk to users, certain stations may be temporarily closed, or the entire network may be suspended depending on how conditions evolve. These adjustments are necessary to ensure user safety and provide a service adapted to current weather conditions. Information about service interruptions or station closures will be communicated at least 12 hours in advance, with continuous updates when needed, through our various communication channels.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tIf the network is temporarily suspended or closes early for the season, will refunds be issued?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t <\/a><\/p>\n No refunds will be issued in the event of a temporary or extended closure. Please refer to Article 3.1 of our Terms of Use<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat is the pricing for the extended season?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t <\/p>\n There is no specific pricing for the extended season. Rates remain the same for pay-per-minute single rides, the 24-hour multi-ride pass, and the 30-day memberships*. Good news: the two additional weeks are included in the annual membership.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n *Please note that no credit or extension can be offered for unused days on 30-day memberships. It is your responsibility to choose the most cost-effective plan based on your needs.
