Snow or ice may cover the pavement. Please exercise caution and adjust your riding accordingly. We remind you that the bikes are not designed for winter conditions (tires are not studded), and <strong>wearing a helmet remains mandatory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The service reserves the right to temporarily close stations in case of unsafe conditions. Users will always be able to return a bike, but will not be able to take a new one while the network is closed. This is why we have decided to focus our efforts on deploying an extended network in neighborhoods with the highest traffic and where a four-season bike network is already in place, particularly near the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ville.quebec.qc.ca\/citoyens\/mobilite\/active\/corridors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VivaCit\u00e9 corridors<\/a>. In addition, this network consists primarily of electrified stations*.\n\n*Check out our &#8220;Our Equipment&#8221; page to learn more about the different types of stations.\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--label-1\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-1\">Why is the season only being extended by two weeks?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-1\" tabindex=\"-1\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>We have to consider that bike batteries do not charge below zero degrees Celsius, even at electrified stations. To avoid logistical challenges, we are limiting the season extension to the first two weeks of November, when average daytime temperatures typically remain above the freezing point. Additionally, our current equipment is not suited for winter conditions. This extension will serve as a test period, as our analysis shows that the risk of snowfall during the first half of November remains very low based on data from recent years.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--label-2\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-2\">Why did you choose to keep mostly electrified stations open?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-2\" tabindex=\"-1\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Since 100% of the bike fleet is electric-assist, it&#8217;s essential that the extended network be made up almost entirely of electrified stations to ensure a high-quality experience for our users.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Colder temperatures and shorter daylight hours mean that solar-powered stations, which rely on battery storage, won&#8217;t charge sufficiently to operate 24\/7. That&#8217;s why we&#8217;ve chosen to open primarily electrified stations, with only a few solar stations remaining in service-specifically in areas where demand justifies the more frequent technician interventions they require. If unfavorable weather poses a safety risk to users, certain stations may be temporarily closed, or the entire network may be suspended depending on how conditions evolve. These adjustments are necessary to ensure user safety and provide a service adapted to current weather conditions.
